Bremgarten

Bremgarten has a lot to offer, such as the town hall, the arsenal, the Schellenhaus (former prison), church district, witch tower and the remaining town fortifications. Enjoy a magnificent view of the old town and the imposing Reuss loop.

Bremgarten is a small town in the canton of Aargau. It is located in the lower Reuss Valley, around 16 km west of Zurich, 23 km east of the canton capital Aarau and 35 km north of Lucerne. Founded by the Habsburgs, the town was part of the County of Baden from 1415 to 1798, a common dominion of the Confederates. From 1798 to 1803 the town belonged to the canton of Baden, since then to the canton of Aargau.

The traffic-calmed old town, surrounded on three sides by the Reuss, is a cultural monument of national importance. The four annual markets, in particular the Christchindlimärt during Advent, have a national appeal and make Bremgarten the tourist center of south-eastern Aargau.
