Ausflugtipp: Pizol

Top of Heidiland und das Wander- und Skigebiet auf der Nordostseite des Pizols oberhalb der Ortschaften Wangs und Bad Ragaz.

Der Pizol (romanisch für Hohe Spitze), früher auch Piz Sol, ist ein 2844 Meter über Meer alpiner Gipfel der Glarner Alpen. Er liegt 16 Kilometer nordwestlich von Chur im Sarganserland, zwischen dem Weisstannental, dem Taminatal und dem Calfeisental. Der Pizol ist der höchste Berg, der vollständig im Kanton St. Gallen liegt.

Das Pizolgebiet wurde in den Jahren 1953/1954 durch je eine Gondelbahn von Wangs und von Bad Ragaz aus erschlossen.

The Pizol (Romansh for high peak), formerly also Piz Sol, is a 2844 meter above sea level alpine peak of the Glarner Alps. It is 16 kilometers northwest of Chur in the Sarganserland, between the Weisstannental, the Taminatal and the Calfeisental. The Pizol is the highest mountain that lies entirely in the canton of St. Gallen.

The Pizol area was opened up in 1953/1954 by a cable car from Wangs and from Bad Ragaz.

Die damals älteste Seilbahn der Schweiz von Bad Ragaz aus wurde durch eine neue 8er-Gondelbahn im Frühling 2007 ersetzt. Die Bahn führt auf die Mittelstation Pardiel auf 1633 m. Von dort führt ein 4er-Sessellift auf Laufböden 2226 Meter über Meer.

Die Bahn von Wangs führt mit einer 8er-Gondelbahn zur Station Furt (1522 M.ü.M.). Von dort gelangt man mit einem 4er-Sessellift über Gaffia (1861 M.ü.M.) zur Pizolhütte auf 2224 Meter über Meer.

Das Pizolgebiet wird zusammen mit dem Nachbargebiet Flumserberg und weiteren Gemeinden der Umgebung unter der Marke Heidiland touristisch vermarktet.

The then oldest cable car in Switzerland from Bad Ragaz was replaced by a new 8-person gondola in spring 2007. The cable car takes you to the Pardiel middle station at 1,633 m. From there, a 4-seater chairlift takes you to Laufboden at 2,226 m above sea level.

The train from Wangs takes an 8-person gondola to the Furt station (1522 m above sea level). From there you can take a 4-seater chair lift via Gaffia (1861 m above sea level) to the Pizolhütte at 2224 m above sea level.

The Pizol area is marketed together with the neighboring area of Flumserberg and other communities in the area under the Heidiland brand.
